Argyle is located six miles south of Denton, at a point that marks the eastern edge of the famous Chisholm Trail. Founded in 1881 when the Texas and Pacific Rail Line was emerging along the southwestern edge of Denton County, Argyle remains an easily accessible choice from either Fort Worth or Dallas.
This area showcases new residential subdivisions under development with towering oak and hickory trees. Many argyle homes are known for acreage which provides a country estate lifestyle that many residents value.
Although young, Argyle’s school system has been ranked as a four-star school in the state. Among the top public elementary schools, in fact! This is another factor in the decision making of families relocating to the Argyle area who will have comfort in knowing that their children will have great schools to attend. While children attend Argyle schools from kindergarten through eighth grade, they may choose between Denton and Northwest Independent School Districts for secondary education.
Continued expansion of the city includes wastewater system improvements; better thoroughfares from recent bond elections; a city pride task force that promotes community activities; and a city hall government that sponsors quarterly town hall meetings.
Nestled in the northwest corner of south central Denton County are the connecting communities of Bartonville, Copper Canyon and Double Oak, which are semi-rural towns considered part of the Argyle area. You have the Texas-style country estates and horse farms that are common in these communities.
In order to maintain their upscale feel and country living character, these towns have adopted minimum lot size requirements: one acre in Copper Canyon and Double Oak and two acres in Bartonville. Lot sizes in Argyle mostly range from one to two-and-a-half acres.
